Who I Am

breaden_headshot_3My name is Craig Breaden and I am the Audiovisual Archivist at Duke University’s David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library.  I have over a dozen years professional experience as an audiovisual archivist and oral historian, working at the University of Georgia (2006-2012) and Duke (2012-present).  At UGA I established the Reflections on Georgia Politics Oral History Project, which during my tenure recorded over 125 oral histories with Georgia politicians, journalists, and civil rights leaders.  I contributed to the design of an oral history gallery in the new special collections building at UGA, including an in-gallery studio for recording interviews, and developed the First Person Project as a method for enabling community members to conduct their own interviews in that space.  At both UGA and Duke I have managed all facets of audiovisual preservation and description in projects both large and small, including, for example:

I have the breadth and depth of experience to help individuals, families, and businesses capture their stories and preserve their audiovisual histories affordably, by using industry standard techniques and commonly available tools to ensure an enduring heritage.  I look forward to working with you.
